Dallas and Florida have been the scourge of the Boxton Creek Home since the day they were found in a box on the front porch of the orphanage. Though the twins are sent to many different foster homes, each potential family sends them back in despair. No one wants to put up with their clumsiness and mistakes.
When an eccentric older couple agrees to accept these “trouble twins” into their home Dallas and Florida are at first mistrustful.

This book uses the word putrid a bunch.
Indeed, the twins do use the word "putrid" to describe anything that they don't like. It is a great detail about them that adds a lot to the depth of the story.

This was an amazing book, I liked it very much.
"Ruby Holler" is very sensitive when it comes to portraying the emotions of the twins and their older foster parents. Sharon Creech definitely put heartfelt effort into the story.
I'm glad that you found it "amazing" just like I did.

That was a great book. I did a book report on it.
this book is immense! i loved it, it helps me imagine what people lives are if this happened to them.
I love this book. It has GREAT detail. I have read it more than 3 times and every time is seems new. The details about the setting is what i love. I feel like i am there looking at the rubys in the trees. I think Florida and Dallas characters are so strong and they really feel like people. And at the end i feel like i have some peace in mind knowing Dallas and Florida finally found a good home after all this time.
I abosolutely love this book but what genere is Ruby Holler?
great book to read when your in middle school.. not as much when your in high school. i read it as a 6th grader and then again as a junior in high school and it seemed a lot easier to read and it wasn't as interesting. but it was a lot of fun to read when i was in middle school.
